Morro Bay, CA back to Los Angeles

Friday August 29

Heading into Los Angeles on Highway 101. Yuk!

Today I regretfully had to leave Morro Bay. In retrospect, I really should have planned more time in this little beach community. But, live and learn. And I actually had such a wonderful plan for this da. Other than making the three-and-a-half hour drive back to the gross traffic of the city of Los Angeles, I knew that I was going to meet up with one of my former students, Rebecca Hildreth. Rebecca just arrived back to Occidental College for her sophomore year and we made plans to get together for lunch when I got back in town. I hated that my time with Rebecca was delayed due to this hideous city traffic, but it was sooooooo wonderful to meet her at the entrance of her college and give her a great big hug.

She looks wonderful and seems to be very comfortable in her college environment. We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory in Pasadena, and had dessert at this cute little 21 flavors of frozen yogurt place. I got to hear about her classes, got to see her dorm, and just talk about her college life.

It was such a treat to get to spend time with her. And one really cool thing?? When I left Occidental to go to Corey's apartment, it took me only 10 minutes!!! They live pretty darn close to each other.
