Beach Day - Santa Monica & Point Vicente Lighthouse

Monday August 25

I'm just a day behind . . . having too much fun.

Since leaving home, I have not had a beach day. Today I took it! I drove to Santa Monica, via 101 south, 110 south, and 10 west. Geez! What a headache! Thank goodness it was only about a half hour drive.

I hung out on the beach for about 3 hours, just relaxing, reading, and people watching. Before I drove home I grabbed a quick corndog from a little dive on the pier. It was a good day.

Such a great day until it was time to drive home. Yuk!

I had a great thought while I was at the beach. The Point Vicente Lighthouse has a Los Angeles address, so I thought it would be fun for Corey and I to have a picnic at the lighthouse at sunset. Well, it was the thought that counts. The drive was a little longer than I thought it would be, so although we found the lighthouse relatively easy, it was already dark when we got there. But nonetheless, we ate our Subway sandwiches with a view of the beautiful lighthouse in the dark. I couldn't get any good pictures so I grabbed a couple off the Internet. I have been to this lighthouse before (as has Corey) so I wasn't totally bummed.

This is what the lighthouse would have looked like had we made it at sunset. There were some really cool clouds in the sky, just like this.
