Glenmoor By The Sea is in Lincolnville, Maine. It's a combination of private cottages and rooms. I'm in the St. Andrew's house, room 18.
This is a picture of the back of St. Andrews. I relaxed on one of those white chairs this morning
after a scrumptious continental breakfast.
This is the view from the deck. Gorgeous!

The rocky beach at the end of the property.
I want to steal this blanket!!
After a restful morning, and after cancelling two tours I had originally planned for this day, I decided to stay "close to home" and just get a feel for what was around the Rockport, Rockland, and Camden areas. Despite it being after Labor Day and the off-season, Camden was still thriving with tourists, so I stayed out of there and headed to Rockland. On the hunt for Owl's Head Lighthouse.
Owl's Head lighthouse is in the small community of Owl's Head. After parking the car, I took a little walk to the lighthouse. It's a short light so you can't see it until you are almost upon it, even though it sits quite a bit above the sea.
The scenery along the walk was really pretty.
Owl's Head Lighthouse
More pretty scenery.
Owl's Head isn't very far from Rockland, so I headed into town to the Maine Lighthouse Museum. I had heard that this museum has the largest collection of Fresnel lights in the nation, maybe the world. I love Fresnel lights. I love light, period. I love things that sparkle, reflect light, give off light, etc. I think that's why I like these lights so much.
From a window in the museum you can see Rockland Harbor and the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse in the background.
This is a second order Fresnel lens, and it is huge - almost to the ceiling!
Fabulous collection!
I decided since I could see the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse, I might as well go and try to get closer. Oh, I did! It's called the Rockland BREAKWATER Lighthouse because it sits at the end of a mile long, granite breakwater. The only way to get close to the lighthouse is to take a little path to the beginning of the breakwater and then walk a mile. Not a mile on a path or boardwalk . . . a mile on the rocks.
It looks a little daunting.
Okay, here we go!
Getting closer!
Yay! I made it!
I'm walking on water to get this great picture.
Or maybe it was a private dock.
Ruffled feathers
A well deserved meal of lobster mac 'n cheese. Great view.
It was a wonderful first day on the coast of Maine. The weatherman says rain - blustery and "soaker showers" - for tomorrow. Oh well, it wouldn't be Maine without some sort of coastal storm, right?
Pretty pictures! It looks like a gorgeous place. Enjoy!!
