There is no place I'd rather be than Orcas Island for my birthday. I love it up here. It brings a smile to my lips and a calmness to my heart. I found this great Vacation Rental By Owner house that just happened to be available because somebody had just cancelled. It's a miracle to find anything up here during the summer with very little notice. This is a beautiful cedar home that sleeps at least five people, which is what I needed.

Amy and Eva are up here with me now; Steve is arriving later today, and they are all staying until Wednesday. They will be here for my birthday, and actually, Amy is treating me to a massage at Rosario Resort for my birthday. After they leave, Brandon and his family arrive for the next few days. Since my kids don't want to be in the same room with each other right now, this works out best. When I rented the house I didn't know if either one of the families would be coming up, but I figured if they chose not to, I would just invite all my girlfriends to come up whenever they could during the week.
Our ferry ride over here was really nice. Eva was so excited so she expended a lot of energy on the ferry. Got here, no problem, unloaded the car and went into Eastsound to have dinner at The White Horse Pub. My favorite view for a meal!

Once we got Eva down to bed, which is always interesting when in a new place, Amy and I stayed up much too late eating popcorn, doing word search and crossword puzzles, and laughing. It was so nice. We haven't spent time like that together for a very long time, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
